Welcome to Year 5 Owl Class!

Spring Term 2021

Here we are in term 2. It has been so good having the children back at school, and they have worked so hard!

 Year 5 Newsletter

We’re ready now for another term of learning – and boy have we got a packed term to come!

This term we will continue to study Roman Britain, learning about how Britain was conquered by the Romans, and what the Celtic tribes thought of it!

Children are expected to read a minimum of 4 times a week. Reading will be a huge focus this year, so please listen to your child read as much as you can.

Each week the children will be sent home with a spelling list to learn. Children will be expected to write each word in a complete sentence. The books will be collected in each Monday, and new words will be sent home.

In maths we will continue studying all 4 operations, and we will also be working with angles and fractions.

In science we will be continuing to look at the properties of materials.

In computing we will be using all the skills we have been learning, and putting them into programming.

This term PE will again be on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings.

Children should wear their PE kits to school that day, and as the weather gets colder, please make sure that they also have a track suit which they can take on and off.

Please make sure that your child can take their earrings out if they have pierced ears.

Please remember – If your child has their ears pierced during the school year, they cannot do PE for 6 weeks. PE is part of the national curriculum and it is very important that your child takes part in every session.
