Welcome to Lion Class!
We can’t quite believe that we write this as we are about to start our final half term of this academic year! What a year it has been!
A big well done to all of the lovely Lions for your amazing hard work.
These final 6 weeks are going to be jam packed with lots of brilliant learning opportunities.
In maths we are going to be doing lots of work on addition and subtraction as well as some work on 2D and 3D shapes.
In English we are going to be looking at lots of stories with familiar settings, poetry, information texts and finally instructions! We will be continuing our Read, Write, Inc phonics programme each morning as well as some longer phonics lessons too.
In our history lessons we will be learning about the Neolithic Period and I’m sure your child will soon be able to tell you lots about it! In science we will be thinking all about animals and classifying them.
We are going to be spending lots of time practising our key skills that we need as we move into the new academic year in September. Can you use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in your writing? What about exclamation and question marks? Can you remember your number bonds to 10? What about 20 or even 100?
Remember to keep reading lots at home – we have rewards waiting for you when you reach 20, 40 and 100 reads! Reading at home is such a brilliant way to develop your child’s reading, to reinforce the work that goes on in school as well as encouraging a love for books and reading which will give your child a heads start as they continue in their education. If you can please record any reading at home in your child’s reading diary that would be brilliant.
As always please continue to get in touch with us if you have any questions or concerns about your child. We are more than happy to help,
Mrs Beck & Miss Wratten
