Welcome to Lion Class!

We hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas holiday and that you are looking forward to the new school year. We are so excited to welcome you all back and here about all the lovely things you have been up to during the holidays.

We will continue to enjoy a variety of stories, giving children the opportunity to develop their phonic knowledge and answer questions about the books that they have read. In maths, we will be learning to measure and weigh, so please do take any opportunity to practise these skills with your child at home. We will continue to recognise 2D and 3D shapes around us. Look out for shapes around the home and outside and count the number of sides each shape has.

Our topic for the first half of this term is Flight. We will be looking at how aeroplanes have changed and developed since their invention and some famous pilots! Please take the opportunity to discuss any knowledge you have around this subject with your child.

Any home learning that you complete with your child, please share with us, via Seesaw. We love to see what you have been doing!

Parents, please ensure that you listen to your child read regularly as this will really help with their learning. Remember to write in your child’s reading record books everytime you read together  as we will be continuing our reading reward scheme where children can win certificates, bookmarks and even books!  Remember to include any extra reading you are completing at home as well. It all counts!

P.E. is on a Wednesday and Friday; please ensure that earrings are removed and that your child comes to school in their full P.E.kit this will be worn for the whole day. Homework will be set weekly.

As always please feel free to come and speak to us if you have any questions about this half term or concerns and joys you ever want to share. We as always endeavour to do our best in supporting your child in this next part of their journey here at Maidstone. We can also be contacted by email via the school office or via SeeSaw.
